Stage 3
Thursday 11 November 2010
There was hot water. We showered. We brushed teeth. My hair was short so I did not need to comb it. (or is that them?)
Chobe along the river - wonderful.
Vehicle misfired at the furthest point and power vanished. Sylvia asked if I would like to drive but I said that a change of hoof would make no difference.
That evening we had dinner at "The Old House" in Kasane. I had chicken piri-piri and Sylvia had a fillet steak.
Friday 12 November 2010
We went to Chobe again and the highlights we saw were Elephants, two Lions and a Leopard.
Late that afternoon we returned to Thebe Lodge where we went to meet the Bhejane people - we did not see Edu and Sandra's vehicle. We were told that someone had rolled a vehicle near Nata and it was some time before we realised that it was their vehicle that had rolled. This was a shock.
When we got home I contacted Dennis from Bhejane and he told me the following:
"Unfortunately Edu and Sandra rolled the Defender in the middle of no-where, about 20km south of the Nata-Gweta-Maun road. Fortunately for them, they did have "scratchy" cellphone comm's and were able to get hold of me in the office and were able to give me their GPS coordinates.
I contacted the "police' in Nata and also our friends at Nata Lodge. James from Nata Lodge managed to find them eventually and bring them out to safety. The police called at 21h00 to say that they had searched for them without success. The vehicle was a total write-off and was loaded on a trailer the next day and taken to Nata. Edu suffered rib injury and was taken for x-rays in Maun - no broken ribs, only bruising.
They are now safely home but battling with the insurance to get their vehicle sorted out."
We can only assume that they rolled the vehicle just before they reached the tar road on the road from Kubu.
Chobe is a special place along the river.

We caught a glimpse of this Sable Antelope and just managed to catch a snap of it before it disappeared.
